PART 3 :: The building of ALPHA 2. ALPHA 2 may sometimes feels like it is not a well planned, professional application. Do you know why ? Well, it is not :) Starting with a clean sheet of paper, I just build it, progressively, the way I, as a user, would like it. The sheet of paper stayed clean as the requirements were not hard to remember: technically just as good as Alpha but simpler, easier to use and ... nicer. That last one was for my friends, was not thinking yet of releasing it publicly. The original specifications were as follows: 1) Play and convert audio, video and pictures. 2) Looks and feel like a real player. |

I also wanted it as small as possible but with all basic information in one window so I decided to make it automatically resizable. I so started with the user interface, copying the Zoom skin (© Inmatrix.com) by using IrfanView and Paint. Then I made sure the layout was immediately usable, control at the bottom and info to the top, and that the player never got out of screen ! To be continued ... |
